On July 7th 2012 I set out on the ride of a lifetime. Aged 37 it was time for a change.
Having initially signed up for The World Cycle Challenge, a fully supported circumnavigation following Mark Beaumont’s world record route, I found this trip cancelled. Undeterred I went on to plan a 12 month tour with one of the other participants. I planned schedules and flights only to have to cancel again following the receipt of bad news.
Finally we set off and in September 2014 we eventually stopped pedalling. We had cycled 31,305km through 26 different countries including passing over the Thorong-la pass at 5416m in Nepal and riding with a tour from Cairo to Capetown.
I’m now writing a book about my journey, talking about my experiences in presentations to a variety of groups and planning to set up in business with John, my cycle buddy.
